D, Social Science Liberation Theology, UC Irvine, 1984; regional director of Maryknoll Fathers, 1962-65; taught political science and sociology, CSU Northridge, 1973-81; served on Council of Educational Development, UCLA, 1969-70; director of publications and development for United Farm Workers of America, 1971-73; senior research fellow at Council on Hemispheric Affairs; executive director of the Office of the Americas, Los Angeles; author of many books and articles, chiefly on Central America; frequent radio commentator on KPFK.
