Tozer, Arthur

An Englishman, who went to South America in 1889 and until 1893, had a succession of jobs in Argentina, Brazil and Chile before joining the New Australia settlement in Paraguay. He had helped search for a site for the movement in Argentina in 1892. When dissension split the group in 1894, he went with William Lane to establish Cosme Colony. In 1896, he went with Lane on a recruiting trip to England, and on his return in 1897, became Secretary of the settlement. He left Cosme Colony in 1898 and became manager of the Paraguayan Central Railway's Sapuacay workshop and eventually retired to Buenos Aires.
