Journal of the American Musicological Society.
The Committee on Publications of the American Musiciological Society proposed the creation of the Journal to replace the Society's Papers in June 1946. The proposal was adopted by the AMS Executive Board on 8 March 1947, and the first issue of the Journal appeared in the Spring of 1948.
