Waring, Thomas Smith, 1832-1901.

Thomas Smith Waring was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1832. He graduated from the College of Charleston in 1851, and from the Medical College of the State of South Carolina in 1853. Dr. Waring served in the South Carolina Cavalry of the Confederate Army during the Civil War, and was wounded twice in battle. Dr. Waring received a promotion for his bravery on the battlefield. He immigrated to South America after the war ended, but later returned to South Carolina. He practiced medicine in Colleton County, South Carolina. Dr. Waring married Josephine Gabriella (Ella) Seabrook in 1853. A second marriage in 1893 was to Mary Virginia Chaplin. He had three daughters. He died in 1901.
