Born July 22, 1905 in Troutman, N.C. Moved to Charlotte, N.C. after graduation from Trinity College (now Duke University) in 1927. Established Engineering Sales Company of Charlotte, Inc. in 1933 with his brother, Voris G. Brookshire. Elected president of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce in 1960. Mayor of Charlotte, N.C., 1961-1969.
