Mecklin, John M. (John Martin), 1918-1971.
The son of Dartmouth College professor, John Moffat Mecklin, John M. Mecklin was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1918. He was graduated from Dartmouth College in 1939 and worked as a newspaper reporter until 1942. From 1942 to 1945 he was a war correspondent in North Africa and Western Europe, and from 1945 to 1947 he was a foreign correspondent in Italy. He was a writer for the New York Times during 1947; then he became a foreign correspondent for Time, Incorporated, working in Canada, England, Central Europe, South East Asia, and the Middle East from 1948 to 1966.
