McFarland, Earl, 1883-1972

Earl McFarland (b. July 7, 1883, Topeka, Kansas-d. Jan. 19, 1972), Brigadier General in the U.S. Army, was commissioned in the artillery from West Point in 1906 and served as a professor at the Academy from 1924 to 1929, after earning a master's degree in 1923. He was Assistant to the Chief of Ordnance from 1938 to 1942, and commander of the Springfield Armory until his retirement in July 1943.
