Glasgow Garden Festival (garden festival: 1988: Princes Dock, Glasgow, Strathclyde, Scotland)
The Glasgow Garden Festival was held at Princes Dock, Glasgow between 28 April and 26 September 1988 . It consisted of hundreds of gardens, pavilions and exhibits sponsored by companies, charities and universities from Glasgow, the rest of Scotland and beyond. It was organised by the Scottish Development Agency, Glasgow City Council and Strathclyde Regional Council. The Garden Festivals were a means of bringing derelict land back into productive use, and also giving cities a chance to show the public their regenerated image. Glasgow??s Garden Festival was the third national event, the first being in Liverpool, England, in 1984 and then in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, in 1986 .
