Higinbotham family.

The Higinbotham family (anything they signed has a single g) was from Joliet, Illinois. Albert H. Higinbotham (ca. 1832-ca. 1890) was a clerk when he enlisted as a private in Company B, 65th Illinois Infantry. He eventually became a quartermaster sergeant and later a captain. He was captured at Harper's Ferry, Virginia in September 1862 and paroled to Camp Douglas near Chicago. His brother Harlow N. Higinbotham (ca. 1839-fl. 1910) was evidently a captain in the quartermaster department but no records of his service have been found.
