The White family was prominent in Syracuse, New York. Hamilton White (1807-1865) was an investor; his brother, Horace White (1802-1860), was the father of Andrew Dickson White (first president of Cornell University) and Horace K. White.
Hamilton S. White (1853-1899) played an important role in the development of the Syracuse Fire Department and died fighting a fire in 1899.
