Black, Joshua Wilson, 1842-1908
Joseph Crary, eldest son of Oliver Crary and Hopestill York of Preston, Conn., settled on land his father bought from Colonel Goldthwaite near the mouth of the Penobscot River around 1800. Other members of the family settled in New York and Ohio or remained in Connecticut. Members of the family, engaged in farming, law, and real estate, maintained an extensive correspondence.
