Gatchell, George Washington, 1865-1939
George Washington Gatchell (b. Feb. 22, 1865, Rhode Island-d. Feb. 4, 1939) graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1887 and rose to the rank of Brigadier General. He participated in the campaign against the Sioux Indians, the Spanish-American War, and fought with the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I. He retired in December 1919.
