Hardware firm created (1871) by business merger between Henry W. Corbett (1827-1903) and Henry Failing. Papers dating before date of merger are business papers of H.W. Corbett, who was U.S. Senator from Oregon (1867-1873). Many of their goods shipped by clipper ships and other transportation systems under their control.
