Bacon, Phanuel, 1700-1783

Phanuel Bacon (1700-1783) was a Church of England clergyman and writer. In addition to his clerical duties, Bacon wrote heroic ballads, including The Kite, an epic poem concerning the Jacobite plot, as well as numerous satirical and comical plays, including The Moral Quack, The Insignificants, The Tryal of the Time Killers, The Occulist, and The Taxes. He died in 1783 at Marsh Baldon, Oxfordshire.
