Davis, Hasbrouck, 1827-1870
Hasbrouck Davis (1827-1870) was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. He attended Williams College in 1845, and afterward studied in Germany. Davis was pastor of the Unitarian church in Watertown, Massachusetts, in 1849. He continued his studies and pursued a degree in law and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1854 and left for Chicago, Illinois , in 1855. Davis entered military service in 1862 as lieutenant colonel of the 11th Illinois Cavalry and left the service as brigadier general. Upon returning to Chicago in 1867, Davis was elected city attorney and served until 1869.
