First Reform rabbinic school in the United States, founded in 1875 in Cincinnati, Ohio, by Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise; 1950 merged with Jewish Institute of Religion (founded in 1922 in New York, N.Y.) to become Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
