Began in 1978 or 1979; National Founding Conference held in Philadelphia, PA, Nov. 9-11, 1979; headquartered in New York, NY until 1990, then moved to Philadelphia; formed as a "peace and solidarity network"; published the periodical Peace and Solidarity; affiliated with the World Peace Council, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland; Philadelphia national headquarters closed in 1992; operations continued (1993- ) by the Michigan chapter.
