Nadar, Paul, 1856-1939

Paul Nadar (1856-1939) and his father Felix Nadar (1820-1910) are two of the most famous names in the history of photography. Paul and his father Felix are given credit for the first ever photo-interview when Felix interviewed the renowned French chemist and color theorist Michel-Eugene Chevreul, on the event of his 100th birthday and Paul photographed it. Felix is given credit for making the first aerial photograph which he took from his hot air balloon. They owned and operated a photo studio in Paris and photographed many notable persons such as Charles Baudelaire, Sarah Bernhardt and Alexander III of Russia, to name a few. The majority of the photographs made by the Nadar Studio after 1885 were made by Paul.
