Kehlenbeck, Dorothy.
Dorothy Severin Kehlenbeck Bean (1912-1999) attended Coe College, and married Alfred Kehlenbeck, a young German professor at the college. . Dr. Kehlenbeck became the Head of the Modern Language Department at Iowa State, and Mrs. Kehlenbeck was hired as a book-keeper at the Memorial Union. In 1953, the Alumni Achievement Fund allocated funds to organize the College History Collection, later incorporated into the Special Collections Department of the ISU Library, and Mrs. Kehlenbeck was named the Curator. She worked to classify the photographs in the University Archives, interviewed alumni and professors, answered reference questions for students and staff, and organized early manuscript and University records collections. She also compiled information on Iowa State's traditions. For Iowa State's centennial in 1958, she published Chronology of Important Events of the First 100 Years (call no. LD2543 I68x). Mrs. Kehlenbeck retired in 1973.
