Peters, Samuel Jarvis, 1823-1863.

Samuel Jarvis Peters, Jr., was a son of leading merchant, civic leader, and prominent Louisiana banker Samuel Jarvis Peters. He was educated in Geneva, Switzerland, studied under the best masters, and read law with Christian Roselius to acquire the legal knowledge necessary for a businessman. Peters also attended school in Middletown, Conecticut. From 1841-1842 he worked as a clerk in Fellows, Wadsworth & Co. hardware store in New York City but later returned to New Orleans to work as a clerk in his father's business, Peters and Millard. Peters married Aspasie La Villebruge, and they had one daughter who lived only a few months.
