Created by Dallas Denny, psychologist, author, and founder of theAmerican Educational Gender Information Service, Inc. (AEGIS), the NTL&A is one of the largest collections of transgender research materials in the world.

AEGIS provided self-published and other materials to transgendered individuals, families of transgendered people, allies, doctors with transgendered clients, and others seeking information, and published Chrysalis: The Journal of Transgressive Gender Identities as well as the AEGIS membership newsletter, Transgender Treatment Bulletin.
