Milton, Graydon A.,

Following Sir Isaac Newton's death in 1727, his service as Britain's Warden (1696) and then as Master (1700) of the Royal Mint was commemorated in Britain in both coins and medallions. These items often portrayed Newton in the manner of a Roman Emperor. Included are two medals made by John Croker in silver, struck at the Tower in 1731; a bronze medal by I. Dassier, undated; and a bronze medal by Jacques Roettiers, 1774.
