Clemente, Egidio.
Egidio Clemente was an Italian-American labor leader and professional printer who edited La Parola del Popolo. A socialist, and close associate of Domenico Saudino, Clemente's early career as a political radical became more centrist during the Roosevelt Administration. Clemente may have supervised printing for the O.S.S. in Rome during World II for psychological warfare efforts such as Operation Cornflakes and Operation Sauerkraut. After the war, Clemente continued to support the cause of labor in the United States and was active in socialist causes.
