Fraser, Duncan Mearns Ross (1905-1977: arts student, University of Glasgow, Scotland)

Dunacn Mearns Ross Fraser was born 1905 in Glasgow, Scotland. He matriculated into the arts faculty of the University of Glasgow in 1924 . In his first year he studied English and Latin at ordinary level. His second year consisted of English, Latin, and Italian at higher level. In his third year he studied English, Latin, and French at junior honours level. His final, senior honours, year consisted of English and Latin. He graduated MA in 1928 . He later achieved the FSA Scot.

He taught at Deanston School, Doune, Stirling, Scoltand, and then at John Street Secondary School. In 1936 he moved to Montrose to take over the running of the Standard Press (Montrose) Ltd printers and publishers. Along with his wife he also edited the Montrose Standard newspaper. During his career he wrote 14 popular books on the folklore and local history of Eastern and Central Scotland. In 1970 he stopped the newspaper to go into book production exclusively. He died in 1977 .
