Firehouse Theatre
The Firehouse Theatre Company was based in Minneapolis, Minnesota in a 19th century fire station. It was founded by Marlow Hotchkiss and Sydney S. Walter in 1965 after Firehouse Theatre Inc. sold its assets, moved out of the old fire station and became the Thirty-First Street Theatre. An avant garde theatre, Firehouse Theatre Company's purpose was to present productions that were experimental. Many of the plays performed were written by young, unknown playwrights. The theatre closed in 1969 when the company lost its lease on its building.
