McDonough, John Joseph, 1895-1962.

John J. McDonough was born in St. Paul on September 25, 1895. He attended the College of St. Thomas and graduated from the St. Paul College of Law in 1918. A Democrat, he was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1924, serving through 1934, and in 1937 served as the chief clerk of the House. He ran for the fourth congressional district seat in 1932, but was defeated. McDonough served as mayor of St. Paul from 1940 to 1948, and died in St. Paul on February 27, 1962.
