Southern Appalachian Historical Association.
The Southern Appalachian Historical Association (SAHA), a non-profit organization based in Boone, North Carolina, organized in 1951 to operate the annual production of Kermit Hunter's outdoor drama Horn in the West. Currently, SAHA is the governing non-profit body for the Horn in the West, living history Hickory Ridge Homestead Museum, and the Powder Horn Theater.
Kermit Hunter was the author of "Horn in the West", "Unto These Hills" and forty other historical productions. He was born in West Virginia to Otis John and Lillian Farley Hunter. He studied at Ohio State University, Julliard School of Music, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His master's thesis was "Unto These Hills." He worked on the Pentagon's general staff, as the North Carolina Symphony business manager and as a professor at Rollins College and Southern Methodist University. He died April 11, 2001.
