Furbay was born on Sept. 23, 1903 in Mt. Gilead, OH; BS, Asbury College, 1924; MA, New York Univ., 1927; Ph. D, Yale Univ., 1931; professor of biology and education, Taylor Univ., 1927-29, 1931-33, and at College of Emporia, 1933-35; president of the College of West Africa, Monrovia, Liberia, 1935-39; educational consultant with General Motors, 1957-81; publications include World without strangers (1955), The shape of things to come (1961), and Spotlight on Africa (1960).
