Angell, John Carpenter, 1818-1904.
John Carpenter Angell graduated from Yale College in 1847, spent a year traveling in the interests of the American Journal of Science for Professor Benjamin Silliman, and in 1849 sailed for California by way of Cape Horn. He arrived in San Francisco in the summer of 1849 and after visiting Sacramento traveled to Oregon.
