Doane, W. Howard (William Howard), 1832-1915
Businessman, hymn writer, investor and philanthropist; born February 3, 1862; president of J.A. Fay and Company; awarded doctorate of music from Dennyson University, 1875; composed hundreds of evangelistic hymns and edited 43 collections of hymns; holder of American and foreign patents on wood-working machinery; received Chevalier Legion of Honor of France, 1889; died 1915.
