Riley, F. J. (Frederick John), 1886-1970
Fred Riley was born in South Australia but lived in Melbourne from 1914. A trade unionist, he was an anti-conscriptionist in 1916-1917, secretary of the Manufacturing Grocer's Employees Federation of Australia (1922-1961) and an executive member of the Trades Hall Council (1923-1961), the A.L.P. (1925-1955), the Anti-Communist Labor Party (1955-1957) and the D.L.P. (1957-1968).
