Young Women's Christian Association of Greater Pittsburgh.
The Young Women's Christian Association began in 1875 as a religious organization, but it soon expanded to provide relief work and religious and vocational outreach for all people in the community who needed help. In 1906 all the independent associations of Pittsburgh organized into a centralized unit and joined the YWCA national board. Throughout the 20th century the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh has adapted to provide a variety of assistance to all residents (not just women) of the Pittsburgh area.
