Thompson, Richard A., 1920-
Richard A. Thompson, of Upper Darby, Pa., was a lieutenant serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. When his plane was shot down on a bombing run over Germany, he parachuted to safety and became a prisoner of war on March 23, 1944. He was transferred to Stalag Luft III, a prisoner of war camp in Sagan, Germany (which later became Żagań, Poland).
