Ramage, John, 1748-1802
Irish painter and goldsmith, active in North America and a resident of New York City from 1777-1794. In 1763 he entered the Dublin Society Schools, before leaving for America in 1772. Settling first in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he had established himself as a miniature painter and goldsmith in Boston by 1775. Ramage left New York in 1794 and resettled in Montreal where he resided until his death in 1802.
