Renton, Dave, 1972-....

Born in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, Renton became a Canadian citizen in 1966. In the 1950s he performed at St. Martins Theatre in Melbourne, Australia and worked for the CBC in Toronto and as a lighting designer for shows such as Howdy Doody and Front Page Challenge . He became a member of Neptune Theatre's first company in 1963 and has since then performed in more than 100 plays there. More than a decade later, Renton founded Portus Theatre Productions and served as its artistic director from 1976 to 1982. He has been active writing, directing, acting in, and producing plays for Neptune and other theatre companies in Nova Scotia and across Canada including Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Fredericton and performances in the Stratford and Shaw Festivals.
