Daughter of S.C. Governor John G. Richards and Bettie Coates Workman Richards, of Liberty Hill, S.C.; graduated Winthrop College, 1913; taught public school; married, 1916, to Thomas Patterson McCrae, step-son of F.H. McCrae and Martha Lafitte McCrae, of Denmark, S.C.; three children: Steven McCrae, John Richards McCrae and Virginia McCrae.
