Mission Park Association.
The Mission Park Association was established in 1857 by Mark Hopkins (1802-1887), Albert Hopkins (1807-1872) and Charles Stoddard (1802-1872) to "improve the grounds situate in Williamstown known as the Mission Park, and [to] erect and place thereon suitable monuments and other memorials to commemorate the origins and progess of American Missions." Members of the Association were all contributors to the society whose mission focussed at this time primarily on the purchase of the Mission Park property from Charles Stoddard. Once purchased, the land was donated in 1885 to Williams College.
