Anderson, Mervyn, 1899-1996.
Mervyn Anderson was born Nov. 16, 1899, in Creston, Iowa to Caleb Demuth and Daisy Vickers Agnew. She was married to Laurel Anderson from 1924 to 1972. They moved to Lawrence in 1927, where she studied and taught harp. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, serving as Kansas state president from 1957 to 1959 and as president of the Lawrence League of Women Voters from 1941-1943 and from 1956-1957. She was also a member of Lawrence's Friends in Council, Lawrence's Health Advisory Council, and the University Women's Club, helping to organize its volunteer program for the University's Watkins Memorial Hospital. She died on March 14, 1996 at Lawrence, survived by her son Whitfield Anderson and daughter Claudia Anderson Lewey.
