Gellis, Roberta

Roberta Gellis is a prolific writer who has published approximately 25 historical novels since 1964. She has written and published in other genres as well: romantic suspense (both historical and contemporary); science fiction and fantasy. She has also written under the pseudonyms of Max Daniels, Priscilla Hamilton and Leah Jacobs. She has received many awards for her writing including the Silver and Gold Medal Porgy for historical novels from West Coast Review of Books, the Golden Certificate and Golden Pen from Affaire de Coeur, The Romantic Times Award for Best Novel in the Medieval Period and Lifetime Achievement Award for Historical Fantasy and Romance Writers of America's Lifetime Achievement Award. She has a varied educational background and working history. She has earned masters degrees in biochemistry and medieval literature and worked for 10 years as a research chemist, many years as a free-lance editor of scientific manuscripts and well over 30 years as a writer. She and her husband of 50 years live in Lafayette, Indiana. She has a son who teaches writing at Kettering University and one granddaughter.
