Hartford, Winslow H., 1910-1997.

Hartford was born in Massachusetts in 1910. He received his bachelor degree in 1928 from Boston University, and his Ph. D. in inorganic chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1933. He worked as a research supervisor with the Mutual Chemical Company of America from 1934-58. Hartford worked at Allied's Syracuse Technical Center as a senior scientist until 1969. He served as an associate professor of chemistry at Belmont Abbey College from 1970-78. From 1979 until his death in 1997, he was Professor Emeritus at Belmont. He specialized in the chemistry and technology of chromium, and in wood preservation.
