Browman, Ludvig G. (Ludvig Gustav), 1904-1986
Ludvig G. Browman was born in 1904, in De Kalb, Illinois. He earned his teaching certificate from Northern Illinois Teacher’s College, De Kalb, Illinois in 1924. He continued his education gaining a B.S. in Biology in 1928 and Ph.D. in Zoology in 1935, both from the University of Chicago. He and Adura Arnold Browman married in 1933 and together they raised four children.
Browman worked for The University of Montana’s Department of Zoology as a professor from 1937-1972 and professor emeritus from 1972-1986. He served as chair of the department from 1948-1956. He served on numerous committees and councils during his time at the university including the Faculty Senate, the Graduate Council, the Curriculum Committee, the Scheduling Committee, and the Library Committee. Browman helped found and served on the Friends of the Library committee from 1964-1972.
