Kip, Isaac L. (Isaac Lewis), 1767-1837

Isaac⁵ Kip (1732-1815) was the son of Isaac⁴ (Jacobus³, Isaac², Hendrick¹) and Cornelia (Lewis) Kip. He was a physician in Rhinebeck, New York and was married to his cousin Rachel Kip, daughter of Jacob and Klaartjen Van Wagenen. He was a private in the 6th Regiment, Dutchess County Militia during the Revolution and was a signer of the Articles of Association. Isaac Kip's ancestor, Jacob³ Kip, with his brother Hendrick³, were the original owners (1686) of the tract known as Kipsbergen, now Rhinebeck, New York. It adjoined a tract purchased by Gerrit Artsen (Van Wagenen), Arie Rosa, and Jan Elton (Elting), the properties lay between the Hudson River and Landsman's Kill and were enlarged by additional purchases.
