Ullery, William

William Ullery, of Dayton, Ohio, graduated from Penn State in 1922 with a degree in architectural engineering. He was the captain of the baseball team his senior year as well as being a member of the Pi Kappa Psi fraternity and the American Society of Engineering Education. Ullery was a three-letter athlete at Penn State and also played baseball and football professionally with the St. Louis Browns baseball team for two years following graduation, and in the National Football League with the Dayton Triangles in 1922. Ullery worked as a draftsman in Dayton before becoming an athletic coach at Susquehanna University where he coached the football team. In 1975 he was elected to the Susquehanna Sports Hall of Fame, honoring his overall record of 21-20-1 from 1929 to 1934. He joined the Penn State faculty in 1940 as a member of the extension staff before becoming an associate professor of engineering graphics in 1943. Ullery retired on July 1, 1962, after twenty-two years of service. William Ullery died on December 20, 1989.
