Rimmer, William, 1816-1879
Rimmer was a sculptor, portrait and figure painter, teacher, and writer on art. He taught art, especially art anatomy, at Cooper Union in New York and the Museum School in Boston. He was also a doctor, largely self-educated, and he practiced from 1855 to 1863 in Chelsea and East Milton, Mass. He lectured often from the 1860s until 1879 and published works on the aesthetics of anatomy.
