Alabama Council on Human Relations
Organized in 1947 as the Alabama division of the Southern Regional Council. Beginning as an organization to promote interracial dialog, the council supported the Civil Rights Movement. It evolved into a self-help agency delegating private and public funds for programs to help the poor.
