Hancock County Pioneer Association.
Old settlers, those who came before Dec. 31, 1840, of Hancock County met in 1869 to celebrate the fourtieth anniversary of the formation of the county and to form an association for the pioneers in the county. Thereafter, they met yearly for fifty years, through 1919, thought to be the last year. Orville H. Browning spoke at the first meeting. The first president was David Greenleaf, who served for several years.
