Brown, Jared Comstock, 1825-1887.
Jared Brown was born in Palmyra, New York in 1825. In May, 1850 he shipped with the steamer, Antietam, as coal heaver, entroute to gold fields of California. By 1851, settled in Coloma. Mined, operated a blacksmith's shop and general merchandise store; served as Post Master and as U.S. Marshal for Washington Territory. Died in 1887 in Kansas City, Mo.
