Revolutionary War Bicentennial Commission
Resolves 1964, c 71 established a special commission to plan the observance by Massachusetts of the bicentennial of the historic events preceding the Revolutionary War. The commission consisted of the governor, ex officio, three members of the Senate, five members of the House of Representatives, the state secretary or designee, the adjutant general or designee, and twenty persons appointed by the governor, and was to file its final annual report in 1975. Resolves 1965, c 49 increased membership by one representative; Resolves 1973, c 125 added two senators, four representatives, and ten gubernatorial appointees, and extended the deadline for the commission's final report to 1980. The body was known in its publications variously as the Massachusetts Bicentennial Commission and the Revolutionary War Bicentennial Commission.
