Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy.

Born on December 26, 1900 at Annapolis, Md. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1922 and was assigned to USS North Dakota and USS Colorado. He attended the Naval Postgraduate School at Annapolis in 1929, and from 1930-1931 was an instructor of ordnance and gunnery at the Naval Academy. From 1931-1934, Bartlett was executive officer of USS Cole, and subsequently had a second tour as an Academy instructor. He was Gunnery Officer on the staff of Commander Asiatic Fleet during 1938-1939, and commanded USS Tutuila through April 1940. He next served three years at the Naval Gun Factory, Washington, D.C. before assuming command of USS Neville. From February to September 1945, Bartlett commanded Transport Division 1 and later was Officer in Charge of the Officer Personnel Division, Service Force, Pacific. After duty as Officer in Charge, Civilian Housing, Pearl Harbor from 1946-1948, Bartlett received his final assignment as Commanding Officer of the Naval Ordnance Plant at Alexandria, Va. He was transferred to the retired list in July 1952 and died on December 2, 1975.
