Oppenheimer, Max, 1885-1954
With the Anschluss in 1938 Oppenheimer fled Vienna to Switzerland; he emigrated to the U.S. in 1939, where he lived in New York City. He had apparently known Franz Werfel, and perhaps also Alma Mahler, before their emigration. He mentions having done drawings of Werfel around 1914, of which he had recently acquired reproductions.
From the description of Correspondence to Alma Mahler, 1944-1945. (University of Pennsylvania Library). WorldCat record id: 155864090
